👩🏽‍🏫 Women’s Education Volunteer Project – Kenya

📍 Location:

Nairobi (urban), Kisumu, or rural counties like Nakuru, Kajiado, or Homabay, Migori

🕒 Duration:

2 to 12 weeks (can be extended)

👥 Ideal For:

University students (education, gender studies, sociology)

Recent graduates or gap year students

Retired educators or women’s rights advocates

Group volunteer teams or individuals

🎯 Project Goals

1. Improve literacy and life skills for women and girls

2. Empower local women with education in entrepreneurship, health, and leadership

3. Support girls’ access to education through mentorship, tutoring, and advocacy

4. Promote gender equality and break stigma around women’s rights and roles

✍️ Key Volunteer Activities

Area Tasks Volunteers May Do

Literacy & Adult Education Teach basic reading, writing, and numeracy in women’s community centers

Girls’ Empowerment Clubs Run workshops on confidence, career goals, menstrual health, and life planning

Entrepreneurship Training Help women learn bookkeeping, marketing, or start a micro-business

Health & Hygiene Education Lead sessions on reproductive health, nutrition, and hygiene

School Mentorship Tutor girls, support female teachers, run after-school clubs

Creative Arts & Expression Use drama, poetry, or storytelling to inspire confidence and self-advocacy

🏠 Accommodation & Meals

Stay: Volunteer house or host family

Meals: 2–3 local meals per day included (vegetarian options available)

Support: On-ground coordinators, translators (if needed), and project mentors

Age: 18+ (under 18 with guardian or group trip)

Time Activity

Mon–Fri AM Teach literacy, workshops, or tutoring

Mon–Fri PM Plan next day, assist community center

Evenings Swahili class, journaling, or group dinner

Weekends Travel: safari, hike, Maasai village visit

🧾 Cost Estimate (Varies by Provider)

2 Weeks: €700–€1,100

Includes: Accommodation, meals, airport pickup, orientation, program support

Excludes: Flights, travel insurance, visa, personal expenses
